Ask FlutistPride (and her Commenters)

How Asking Works
  1. You E-mail me with a question about autism, temperament theory, playing the flute, disability in general, the Christian faith, or any combination thereof. Use "Ask FlutistPride" as the subject line.
  2. I reply as soon as I can with an answer crafted to the best of my abilities. If I cannot answer your question, I will decline to write a post about it.
  3. Remember that I am not a counselor, a therapist, a doctor, or any other professional. My knowledge is intended to supplement, not replace, what professionals say. If I completely turn what the professionals say on its head, use your discernment. Professionals are fallible.
  4. I will not always respond immediately. Keep in mind that I might be doing my homework or getting distracted by something else.
  5. All comment policies apply in the asking system.
  6. Your question must be somewhat concise. If you need to extrapolate in order for me to understand the full picture, do so. However, I will not waste my time with a 1000 word essay.
  7. Do not send personal information other than first names. You are welcome (encouraged, actually) to use aliases for yourself and others.
  8. I will not respond to spam or personal attacks publicly.
  9. You may only attach these types of files in your asks:
    1. Videos
    2. Images with the .png format and screenshots
    3. Word and Google documents
    4. PDFs
      1. This is to protect myself from viruses and malware. I will not institute any rule that I do not see as logical and fair.
  10. When you send me your content, you give me consent to publish, reproduce, and share it through any means with anyone.
  11. If you inform me that my (or a commenter's) answer worked or did not work, I will post with an update.

  1. Hi, flutistpride...my name is Judith and I'm working on a book about autism based on a New York Times story I did about my son called "To Siri With Love". I was wondering if you could explain to me the role of repetition in your life. I reach on another site that you said you wrote an 'echocholiac blog' and I wondered what you meant. all best -- Judith

  3. Not a question but a comment.

The 4096-character limit when it comes to links is very challenging as I saw on the 21st April 2016 responding to "Why Passing for Normal was so Important".

Could you make a list of links that you found helpful in various topics/subjects and can we add to this list?

[I was able to pare it down but it was very challenging! Had lots of Human Rights Charters from around the world:

European Social Charter - and of course the Autism Europe Charter of Rights in 1996
Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
Victorian Charter of Rights and Responsibilities 2006
    New Zealand Human Rights Commission

And I mentioned the Sumlins - was wondering how far to go and quote lest I violate the recovery policy in letter and/or in spirit. The links which are relevant are Social Stories; Teach me to Play; Teaching and Learning; Sumlin's Mistakes and Brookline. This is good historical information 1998-2001.

Also a relevant point might be the Alberta Curriculum and the work of Michelle Dawson especially THE MISBEHAVIOUR OF BEHAVIOURISTS.

Ah - what to write in/on a blog and what to comment on - requires razor sharp focus!

  4. Technical concern:

WHY does the blog go into Speedtest.in when I click on a certain place?

It has been affecting my enjoyment of the translyrics of TERMINATE THE WORLD.

    1. I have no idea. It doesn't do that on my computer as far as I know. Where are you clicking?

    2. Where am I clicking, FlutistPride?

Probably somewhere where the speedtest.in is targeted/logged?

And it also seemed to be a timing matter.

I had not the presence of mind to go into Developer mode and check the HTML and the scripts - it acted much too quickly for that.

More importantly I could not get back.

Somewhere above or below the main blog part? Mostly below...

I know we describe these things as x and y in the co-ordinates.

    3. I did a deletion of all widgets. Are you still experiencing this problem?

    4. Not now!

The blog runs faster than ever.

However - I had an unrelated problem where I could not comment for 2 days and reply.

The pulldown menu for profiles and accounts was empty! And it said "Please fill in your profile".

May have been a cache difficulty.

Comment! I won't know what you have to say unless you say it.
