[PAUL]
Who am I anyway?
Am I my GPA?
That is a number, not a person that I know.
What does he want from me?
What should I try to be?
So many faces all around, and here we go.
I need the grade, oh God, I need this test.
Hello!
ReplyDelete"Those numbers are not a person that I know".
Can really see how Paul is feeling here.
And the way that this neediness is created or perverted from real needs.
How many As how many Bs ... is this a multiple choice they are doing?
So there's Zach, Tricia, Mike, Paul and Maggie.
Needing "the grade" is likely their fears of being inadequate creeping to the surface.
DeleteThis test does have a multiple choice portion.
I kept the names to make it clear that this is indeed derived from A Chorus Line.

Anna....
ReplyDeleteAlright, so I Google-searched and I found the original lyrics from A Chorus Line!! But who wrote "I Hope I Get It"? Because I can really see my own reflection in those song lyrics.... Perfectionism.... Self-Doubt.... {Which, by the way, I work on!!} I can especially see my own reflection in that last verse, because I'm currently struggling with not knowing who I am as an artist, who I am as a person.... I have simply learned how to pick up my board and surf these uncharted waters {if you will} so that I do not drown {if you will}!! ;)
"Stay hard, stay hungry, stay alive, Raelyn
PS. If it is those dreaded school tests/grades/college approval{s} that you're worried about--that are keeping you awake at night--completely I understand, Friend!! Trust me, I do.... I absolutely hated school tests!! It always felt like my Life was on the line!! {Hello, Perfectionism and Self-Doubt!!} So I am going to pass onto you some advice that my Mom gave me.... "Just do your best!!" ;-D
Really creative way to join Finish the Sentence Friday with the school prompt.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it. School anxiety can be similar to stage fright in some instances.
DeleteI'm sorry for the anxiety, Anna—hope it felt good to get this out.
