I'll Quit Being Gifted (I'll Quit Singing Parody)

I am done.
I am through.
I am just sick of it all.
I am sick of everyone saying
That it's easy.

I am done.
I am through.
I am just sick of it all.
I am not even that smart.
I just work hard.
And you?

I see this kind of thing most everywhere,
Because child prodigies are popular.
People should think about the fact
I'm not like that kid.

People also compare me to my peers
And tell me that I'm not as smart as them.
I am tired of the comparisons.
Well, my desire is that I was never
Gifted.
At.
All.

And most people don't know that this is a problem.
Why are the intelligent looked upon as gods?
And for those who complain that I am not good enough,
I just have one thing to say.
Get this in your head.
No one really cares!

I am done.
I am through.
I am just sick of it all.
And I bet this parody
Won't even get that many views.

I don't have
The kind of brain
That makes everything
Make sense.
I am just as confused
As my other average level peers.

I am done.
I am through.
I am just sick of it all.
I am not a perfect person,
So don't say that I am one.
I'm human,
Fallible.

I'll quit being gifted,
But
I can't.

And you all have your own ways to work through this confusion; as well as ways that are common to the cohort.

What do you do with confusion?

And how do brains make sense anyway?

    Comparison is a tool.

And the varieties of ways people say "It's easy" and don't think it's dismissive.

    1. I use my confusion to help articulate things not everyone can see. "It's easy" and its many variants can leave more of a toll than most people realize.

    2. Yes, they do. And how many variants there are.

So, for example, you would use your confusion to articulate why gifted people should not be seen as gods at the expense of their Godliness/spark of the divine.

And that "help" part is important.

Yes, people do have different ways to work through this confusion.

Do you ever find it confusing seeing the way that someone else might do it?

Yes, people might think "This is a little bit of a toll" or "Not much of a toll at all". The thing about tolls: they're deep and they're long...

I am going to break this LONG comment into twain parts.... ;-D
Question. Are you into superheroes? I understand that many people are not. Have you ever heard of X-Men? It has a school that is full of characters, individuals, mutants.... Who all feel like freaks, like outsiders, like misfits. But they are "gifted", they're superheroes with extraordinary, incredible powers that can {and do} help save the world!! Those are my very favorite kind of superheroes. The ones who were born different.... Like me. I was born with craniosynostosis, with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, with Wolff-Parkinson White syndrome. I have developmental delays, I have learning disabilities. I live with premature short-term memory loss, I live with Attention Deficit Disorder. I have often felt like a mutant from X-Men.... Particularly because of my damn premature short-term memory loss. I have often felt like a freak, like an outsider, like a misfit. These X-Men characters, these individuals, these mutants, they struggle mightily with being different, they struggle mightily with not being "normal", they struggle mightily with something that is beyond their control. Can you relate, Friend? I know I can.... ;)

Those are also my very favorite kind of superheroes. The ones who have something emotional that is eating at them. You know.... The superheroes who struggle with self-acceptance issues because of their powers. Like Bruce Banner/The Hulk in The Avengers. Like Vision in Captain America: Civil War. Like Ben Grimm/The Thing in Fantastic 4. My very first superhero love as a girl growing up was Clark Kent/Superman. He is an alien, he is not a human being, he was born that way. Coincidence? I think not!! I appreciate what Tony Stark/Iron Man said about having an arc reactor in his chest, about being an Avenger.... "It's a... terrible privilege." That line spoke to me, to my heart and soul over four years ago. You know what? It still does to this day!! Because maybe, just maybe....? Having been born with craniosynostosis, congenital diaphragmatic hernia and Wolff-Parkinson White syndrome? "It's a.... terrible privilege". Because maybe, just maybe....? Living with developmental delays, learning disabilities, premature short-term memory loss and Attention Deficit Disorder? These are my superpowers. Maybe, just maybe. Confession? I still struggle mightily with self-acceptance issues concerning my learning disabilities.... Particularly when it comes to my premature short-term memory loss. I also love what Peter Parker/Spider-Man about his superpowers.... "This is my gift, this is my curse." Because maybe, just maybe.... My learning disabilities, my premature short-term memory loss? "This is my gift, this is my curse." ;)

PS. God has plans for your Life, for your future, you do have a very unique, meaningful, worthwhile place in this world.... Whether it be something cosmic, or something that feels minuscule. Yes.... Especially for a gifted individual!! ;-D
